Monika Jankovská indicted in Búrka corruption case
A prosecutor has filed an indictment against Monika Jankovská, the former state secretary of the Ministry of Justice, in connection with the Búrka case. The indictment was submitted on August 28, 2026, and has been confirmed by the Bratislava Regional Prosecutor's Office and the Specialized Criminal Court.
Jankovská is charged with offenses including accepting bribes through complicity, bending the law, bribery, and interfering with the independence of the judiciary. The investigation, which began in March 2020, involved analyzing communications from Marián Kočner via the Threema application and testimonies from former judge Vladimír Sklenka.
A key element of the investigation involved allegations that Jankovská exerted pressure on Judge Zuzana Maruniaková regarding a case involving Markíza television ownership transfers. While the indictment has been filed, the broader Búrka investigation remains ongoing.
