Monika Koszewska, prolific Polish author, dies at 51
Polish author Monika Koszewska has passed away at the age of 51. Her family announced her death on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, and requested privacy during their period of mourning.
Koszewska was a prolific writer with 14 published novels, spanning genres such as psychological drama, crime, and historical fiction, as well as children's literature. Her work frequently explored complex social and psychological themes, including addiction, violence, loneliness, and the intricacies of female relationships and toxic dynamics.
Deeply connected to the city of Sopot, Koszewska often used the city as a setting for her stories. The Mayor of Sopot, Magdalena Czarzyńska-Jachim, expressed her condolences, noting that the author had made the city a part of her novels.
The death occurred shortly before the scheduled premiere of her latest novel, ‘Pokonując przepaść’ (Overcoming the Abyss), which was set to take place on September 12 at the Gdańsk Book Fair. The event has since been postponed.
