Monika Pikuła shares breast cancer treatment journey

Polish actress Monika Pikuła has shared updates regarding her ongoing battle with breast cancer. After publicly announcing her diagnosis in early October, the 46-year-old performer has used social media to document her treatment process, including hospitalizations and chemotherapy. Pikuła has used her platform to advocate for early detection, urging others to undergo regular ultrasounds and mammographies.

Her personal experience highlights broader public health concerns in Poland. According to a report by the SEXEDPL Foundation, while 91 percent of women recognize that early detection increases treatment success, only 48 percent report undergoing regular screenings. Data indicates that one in four Polish women aged 18-65 has never had a breast ultrasound or mammogram. Furthermore, Eurostat data places Poland among the European Union countries with the lowest rates of breast cancer screenings, trailing only Hungary and Cyprus.
