Monika Sikora appointed Poland's Government Plenipotentiary for Persons with Disabilities

Prime Minister Donald Tusk has appointed Monika Sikora as the Government Plenipotentiary for Persons with Disabilities. Sikora will also serve as Secretary of State within the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy.

In her new role, Sikora is tasked with coordinating government policy for people with disabilities, advancing accessibility policies, and fostering cooperation with civil society organizations and both domestic and international partners. She succeeds Maja Nowak, who resigned from the position in late June due to family reasons.

Sikora previously served as Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy from January 2024 to August 2026. During that tenure, she managed the implementation of the European Social Fund Plus, focusing on employment, education quality, and reducing social inequalities. She also chaired the Accessibility Council, contributing to the Polish Accessibility Act and the Accessibility 2.0 program. Her professional background includes experience in the European Parliament and roles in Brussels, London, and Strasbourg.
