Monika Valašiková appointed President of Slovakia's Supreme Administrative Court

Slovak President Peter Pellegrini has appointed Monika Valašiková as the new president of the Supreme Administrative Court of the Slovak Republic. Valašiková was previously selected for the role by the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic on August 11.

During the appointment, President Pellegrini emphasized the importance of administrative courts in protecting citizens' rights against public administration authorities and strengthening the rule of law. He noted that Valašiková possesses the professional and moral credit required for the position and expressed confidence that her experience within the court would provide a clear vision for its future direction.

Valašiková, who has been with the Supreme Administrative Court since its inception, highlighted the need to address personnel shortages. She suggested that the court should be expanded from its planned 30 judges to 33 to better fulfill its duties. The appointment follows the end of the term of former president Pavol Naď.
