Monika Zajkova calls for political accountability on North Macedonia's Independence Day

Monika Zajkova, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), issued a statement marking 35 years of independence for North Macedonia. She criticized the persistent cycle of political dysfunction, noting that while political parties change, systemic issues such as partisanship and bloated administrations remain. Zajkova argued that instead of abolishing bad practices, new administrations often refine them under different names, such as rebranding partisanship as “personnel policy” or bad laws as “reforms.”

Zajkova acknowledged the LDP's past role within the political system but emphasized the party's commitment to offering solutions rather than just criticism. She highlighted the party's initiative regarding subsidized student meals and proposed new measures to improve the state. These proposals include reducing the number of ministries and administrative positions, cutting bank commissions to lower costs for citizens, and implementing a criminal code that prevents officials from abusing their power through procedural delays.
