MONO Investment advisor wins SIG-FIN Best Paper Award
MONO Investment has announced that a co-authored research paper by its technical advisor, Professor Kei Nakagawa of Osaka Metropolitan University, and colleagues Masahiro Kato and Mitsuyoshi Imamura, has received the 2025 Best Paper Award from the Special Interest Group on Financial Informatics (SIG-FIN) of the Association for Artificial Intelligence.
The research introduces “Subspace Regularized Principal Component Analysis (SR-PCA),” a method designed to address the instability of risk factor identification in traditional Principal Component Analysis (PCA) when analysis periods change. By incorporating prior exposure information based on economic insights, the method stabilizes the factor space, allowing for more consistent and interpretable risk analysis over time.
MONO Investment plans to integrate this research into its proprietary analysis platform, “MONO FactorLens.” The goal is to enhance the company’s ability to visualize risk biases, explain portfolio adjustments based on macroeconomic factors such as interest rates and inflation, and provide more consistent follow-up for clients by maintaining stable analysis conditions during periodic reviews.
