Monograph chronicles 1990s Croatia through Uršić and Kuk designs
The monograph ‘Božesačuvaj nas devedesetih – kronika vremena kroz vizuale Albina Uršića i Borisa Kuka’ was presented at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. The book serves as a visual chronicle of the 1990s in Croatia, documenting the work of the design duo known as ‘Božesačuvaj’. Their portfolio includes posters, album covers, and various campaigns that responded to the social and cultural shifts of the era, including the war, political transition, and the establishment of new state institutions.
The publication gathers visual works alongside texts, interviews, and testimonies from figures in art, journalism, literature, and music. During the presentation, which was attended by Croatian President Zoran Milanović, the artists discussed the importance of freedom of expression. Albino Uršić and Boris Kuk noted that their work often used humor, irony, and provocation to challenge censorship and explore the boundaries of freedom in the newly formed state.
