Monongalia County Fair debuts at new permanent fairgrounds
The Monongalia County Fair is returning for its annual event from September 8–13, marking a historic milestone as the first year held at its new permanent fairgrounds located at 72 Adena Drive. The 62-acre site was deeded to the Monongalia County Fair Association by Core Natural Resources earlier this year. Current developments at the site include a livestock barn, bleachers, and a rodeo arena, with more permanent structures planned for the future.
The event schedule features a variety of activities, including a parade on High Street, a demolition derby, ATV dirt drag races, and a rodeo. New attractions include a large catch-and-release fishing tank designed to introduce children to fishing. Other scheduled events include a hot dog eating contest, a comedy show, and various musical performances. Additionally, September 11 will be observed as ‘American Hero Night,’ offering free admission to active duty or retired military, fire, EMS, and police personnel.
