Monozukuri Takumi no Waza no Saiten showcases Japanese craftsmanship in Tokyo

The 11th Monozukuri Takumi no Waza no Saiten (Festival of Craftsmanship) was held from July 31 to August 2 at the Tokyo International Forum in Marunouchi. The event showcased the expertise of Japanese artisans across the sectors of clothing, food, housing, and industry.

Participants included organizations such as the Tokyo Wood Painting Skills Association and the Tokyo Film Waterproofing Skills Association. The opening ceremony featured Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike, who emphasized the increasing value of experience-based craftsmanship in the age of rapid AI advancement. She highlighted the importance of supporting women and youth to preserve these traditional skills for the future.

The festival included various booths for traditional crafts, vocational training, and regional specialties, alongside live demonstrations and interactive experiences such as drone trials for high school students.
