Monroe Walk wins Shuka Sho G1 with undefeated record

Monroe Walk secured a victory in the Shuka Sho G1 at Kyoto Racecourse, completing an undefeated five-race winning streak. The three-year-old filly, trained by Hiroyuki Uemura, finished the 2000-meter turf race with a time of 1:56.1, tying the course record.

Jockey Keita Tosaki claimed his first Shuka Sho title in five years. The race saw Monroe Walk face a competitive field in the absence of the Oka Sho and Oaks winners. Gallaborg finished second, followed by Dream Core in third.

Monroe Walk’s performance marks the first time since Fine Motion in 2002 that a filly has achieved a five-race winning streak including a G1 victory. The win also breaks a statistical trend regarding offspring of the sire Kizuna, who had previously struggled to secure a victory in the Triple Crown for fillies.
