Mons. Edgar Peña Parra to visit Pontecagnano Faiano

Mons. Edgar Peña Parra, the Apostolic Nuncio to Italy and San Marino, is scheduled to visit Pontecagnano Faiano on October 30, 2026. The meeting will take place at the Ex Tabacchificio Centola.

Organized by Fondazione Super Sud ETS, AICCRE Campania, and Associazione Sud 20/40, the event will focus on the theme “What challenges and opportunities for the South between Europe and the Mediterranean.” The discussion aims to explore the strategic role of Southern Italy as a central actor in geopolitical relations and development between Europe and the Mediterranean region, rather than viewing it merely as a periphery.

Mons. Peña Parra, appointed by Pope Leo XIV in March 2026, brings extensive diplomatic experience to the dialogue. His previous service includes roles in Kenya, Yugoslavia, South Africa, Honduras, Mexico, and Pakistan, as well as work with the United Nations in Geneva.
