Monsenhor Antenor Salvino de Araújo, veteran priest, dies in Brazil

The Diocese of Caicó confirmed the death of Monsenhor Antenor Salvino de Araújo on Wednesday, the 5th. He served as emeritus parish priest of the Paróquia de Sant’Ana in the Seridó region of Rio Grande do Norte and was widely respected in the local Catholic community.

A diocesan note signed by Bishop Dom Antônio Ranis Rosendo dos Santos expressed deep sorrow, highlighting his decades‑long dedication to evangelization, formation of the faithful, and pastoral work. The clergy had previously disclosed that Monsenhor Antenor was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, which limited his ministry in recent years. Details about his funeral and burial were not yet announced.

The diocese asked the faithful and community members to keep the late priest in their prayers and offered solidarity to his family and parishioners.
