Monseñor Carlos Tomás Morel Diplán appointed Archbishop of Santo Domingo

The Holy See has officially appointed Monseñor Carlos Tomás Morel Diplán as the new Metropolitan Archbishop of Santo Domingo. Originally from Moca, Espaillat Province, Morel Diplán will lead the Episcopal See and hold the title of Primate of America.

In related religious community news, Monseñor Andrés Napoleón Romero Cárdenas, the Bishop of La Vega and former Parish Priest of the Santa Ana Cathedral, will participate in the ‘Pan y Vino’ conference on November 20, 2026. The event, themed ‘From the baptismal font to the family table: baptized for communion and mission,’ is a charitable initiative to support seminarians.
