Monsignor Roger Landry restricted from ministry amid misconduct allegations

Monsignor Roger Landry, the national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies USA, has been restricted from public priestly ministry following allegations of code-of-conduct violations. The Diocese of Fall River, Massachusetts, stated that an investigation found sufficient evidence to restrict Landry from public ministry pending the resolution of the matter.

The allegations involve violations of priestly codes of conduct for both the Diocese of Fall River and the Archdiocese of New York. Landry, who is 55, has maintained his innocence, stating that the accusations involve alleged violations of prudence, pastoral boundaries, and diocesan codes of conduct with adults. Both the diocese and Landry emphasized that there are no allegations involving minors or sexual misconduct of any kind.

Landry has taken a voluntary, temporary leave of absence from his role as director of the Pontifical Mission Societies. While he currently works and lives in New York, he remains a priest of the Diocese of Fall River and is subject to the authority of its bishop.
