Monsignor William Shomali Leads Holy Land Solidarity Events in Sardinia

On Sunday 2 August, Monsignor William Shomali, auxiliary bishop of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, will celebrate Mass at the parish of Nostra Signora de La Salette in Olbia, Sardinia. The liturgy, themed “God weeps in the Holy Land,” will address the humanitarian situation in Gaza, Jerusalem and the West Bank, citing analysis that more than 74,000 children under five could suffer acute malnutrition in Gaza by April 2027.

After the Mass, a benefit concert will be held at the Teatro Mario Ceroli in Porto Rotondo, featuring singer Amii Stewart and Sardinian tenor Francesco Demuro. The concert, organized by the Gallura‑Logudoro delegation of the Sardinian jurisdiction of the Order of the Holy Sepulchre, aims to raise funds for medical and humanitarian aid for the populations of the Holy Land. The visit follows earlier trips by clergy and the Palestinian ambassador to Italy.
