Monsoon rains improve air quality across 23 Indian states

A shift in the monsoon trough has triggered heavy rainfall and strong winds across 23 Indian states, including the Delhi-NCR region. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the coming days.

The continuous precipitation has led to a significant improvement in air quality. In Delhi, the Air Quality Index (AQI) has reached satisfactory levels at various monitoring stations, with some areas like the Cantonment area recording an AQI as low as 20. Other areas such as Ghaziabad have also seen improved air quality metrics.

Weather forecasts indicate that while some days will see partial cloud cover, intermittent light rain or showers are expected through the end of August. The rainfall has provided relief from humid heat, though authorities have warned of potential waterlogging and falling tree branches due to high winds.
