A new TV anime series titled ‘Mera x Death: Shinigami to Boku no Ijou na Koi’ (Mera x Death: The Reaper and My Abnormal Love), based on the popular mobile action RPG ‘Monster Strike’, is scheduled to begin broadcasting on January 5, 2027. The series will air on TOKYO MX and ten other terrestrial stations in Japan, with streaming availability on various platforms.

Promotional footage released for the series depicts a ‘boy meets girl’ encounter between the protagonist, Mera, and a mysterious girl named Thirteen. While the initial scenes suggest a romantic encounter, the trailer shifts tone when Thirteen whispers the word ‘kill’, hinting at a darker narrative. The key visual also features a mysterious glowing sphere behind the characters.

The production is led by MIXI, with Kenta Kushiya serving as director and Tadashi Sakazaki as character designer. The animation is being produced by Qzil. la and studio keel.
