Monstro Gentil explores themes of trust and betrayal

The film ‘Monstro Gentil’, directed by Marie Kreutzer, explores themes of trust and denial through the perspective of Lucy, a woman who believes she knows her husband, Philip, intimately. After moving to the countryside to support Philip through burnout, Lucy faces a devastating accusation from the police following the seizure of computers, which challenges her entire understanding of her family life.

Rather than following a conventional investigative structure, the film focuses on the emotional experience of doubt. The narrative was inspired by reports of a major child abuse network investigated in Germany, with the director consulting professionals to ground the story in the psychological impact of discovering a loved one's hidden actions.
