Montalto di Castro: Two deaths reported in sea on Saturday

Two people died in the sea at Montalto di Castro on Saturday, prompting the Coast Guard of Civitavecchia to issue a warning regarding maritime safety.

In the morning, a 53-year-old woman died in the Fosso del Sanguinaro area, likely due to a sudden medical emergency while in the water. Despite immediate assistance from lifeguards and bystanders, she could not be saved.

Later that day, a 52-year-old man was found dead in the waters off the municipality. His friends raised the alarm after he failed to return to shore approximately two hours after entering the water. A search and rescue operation involving the Coast Guard and Fire Department located his body north of where he had originally entered the sea.

The Coast Guard has urged swimmers and boaters to remain cautious, respect safety regulations, and not overestimate their physical condition or underestimate changing weather and sea conditions.
