Montalvão Honey Fair highlights Spain-Portugal border cooperation

The 2026 Montalvão Honey Fair served as a platform to strengthen social, cultural, and economic ties between Spanish and Portuguese communities in the La Raya border region. The event featured participation from institutional representatives, including Miguel Ángel Morales, President of the Provincial Council of Cáceres, alongside officials from Cedillo, Nisa, and Castelo de Vide.

A central focus of the gathering was the long-awaited international bridge over the Sever River. This infrastructure project, which has been a demand for over 30 years, aims to directly connect Cedillo with Montalvão. Once completed, the bridge is expected to reduce travel distances by up to 85 kilometers, addressing a historical mobility issue for residents on both sides of the border.

According to recent follow-up meetings, the start of construction for the bridge is currently projected for this coming October.
