Montana and Idaho prepare for Little Brown Stein rivalry game

The University of Montana and the University of Idaho are set to compete this Saturday in the battle for the Little Brown Stein. While former Grizzlies head coach Bobby Hauck has suggested that Montana's only true rival is Montana State, the historical data between the Grizzlies and the Vandals highlights a significant matchup.

Historically, Idaho has led the all-time series with 56 wins, 32 losses, and 2 ties. However, much of that dominance occurred prior to 2000, with 32 of Idaho's victories occurring before 1960. In contrast, Montana has dominated the series since 2000, holding a 9-1 record against Idaho. Recent matchups include a 41-30 Montana victory last September and a narrow 23-21 win for the Grizzlies at the Kibbie Dome in 2023.
