Montana proposes wolf hunting bag limit reductions

A proposed amendment has been submitted for the Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission's August 19 meeting agenda. The amendment, introduced by Region 3 Commissioner Susan Kirby Brooke, seeks to adjust the Fall 2026–Winter 2027 furbearer and wolf trapping and hunting seasons and quotas.

Specifically, the proposal suggests reducing the bag limit to five wolves per licensed hunter in Region 3. In Wolf Management Units 313 and 316, the proposed limit would be reduced to one wolf per licensed hunter. The commission will hold its meeting in Helena and virtually via Zoom.
