Montauban to Host 40th Sports Festival in September 2026

The municipality of Montauban (Tarn-et-Garonne) announced that it will hold the 40th edition of its "Fête des sports" on 5‑6 September 2026. The event is part of the city’s effort to retain its "Ville Sportive" label, which is under review after being awarded for three years in 2023 by the Conseil National des Villes sportives.

Montauban highlights the recent success of its rugby club USM, which reached the Top 14 last season, boosting attendance at local facilities. The city’s main stadium, Sapiac, was completely renovated in 2024 at a cost of €8 million and is slated for a €450 k expansion before USM’s return to Pro D2. Over 30 000 participants are expected, including 20 000 licensed members across 216 sports associations. The programme includes food trucks, live bands and other activities aimed at encouraging public involvement in sport.
