Montblanc releases limited edition Star Legacy Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph

Montblanc has released the Star Legacy Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph, a limited edition timepiece consisting of only 100 units. Crafted from 750 rose gold, the watch is priced at 31,500 euros.

The design pays homage to Nicolas Rieussec, the sixth court watchmaker to the French King, who in 1821 developed an early chronograph device to record horse racing finish times. The watch features the MB R200 caliber, a monopusher chronograph, and a second time zone.

The dial incorporates historical elements, including luminous inscriptions of excerpts from Rieussec’s patent documents, the silhouette of the Académie des Sciences, and technical drawings of his original ink-drop mechanism. It also features the relief ‘Paris, le 15 Octobre 1821’ to mark the date of his patent application.
