Montceau-les-Mines man sentenced for child pornography possession

A 30-year-old man with no prior criminal record has been sentenced to four years of judicial supervision in Montceau-les-Mines for the possession of child pornography. The court opted against imprisonment, citing the defendant's profile, his conduct during the legal proceedings, and his statements during the hearing.

The investigation began in January after an American foundation alerted authorities that a Google account had downloaded 73 files depicting the sexual abuse of minors aged 4 to 14. Digital forensics traced the activity to a Microsoft account and an IP address located in Montceau-les-Mines, leading to the man's arrest on June 8.

During a search, authorities seized computer equipment and found that while files on a tablet were empty, the defendant's phone contained conversations with minors and nude photographs. During the trial, the defendant expressed shame and a desire to seek help, noting that his exposure to pornography began in childhood due to his family environment.
