Montceau-les-Mines Mayor calls for republican unity
Mayor Isabelle Louis organized a republican gathering in Montceau-les-Mines on Monday, October 19, in response to recent violence and attacks on public buildings across France. Approximately sixty residents gathered in front of the town hall to demonstrate solidarity with national republican values.
During her speech, Mayor Louis condemned the targeting of public symbols, noting recent incidents where town halls in cities such as Marseille, Lille, and Limoges were attacked or set on fire. She emphasized that attacking a town hall is an attack on the Republic itself, describing these institutions as the 'common house' belonging to all citizens.
