Montdidier drives aid convoy for Gironde fire victims
On Thursday, 6 August, the town of Montdidier in the Somme continued its solidarity effort for the victims of the recent wildfires in Gironde. Volunteers and local officials organized a collection point at the Jean‑Dupuy hall, inviting residents to donate school supplies, hygiene products for firefighters and animal feed, while excluding food for human consumption. The donations will be assembled into a second convoy destined for Gironde, where needs remain high after the initial three‑day collection effort.
Mayor Wilfried Larcher highlighted the ongoing demand for essential items, noting the strong community response. Municipal councillors Patricia Warin, Caroline Gros and Jacky Allard, together with volunteers, managed the reception, sorting and packaging of the contributions to ensure rapid delivery to the affected region.
