Monte Alto market parking concession set to pay €785,000 yearly

The Ayuntamiento of Monte Alto will collect an annual fee of €785,000 from the new concessionaire of the underground parking beneath the municipal market. The tender covers 154 spaces, with about thirty reserved for supermarket customers, and requires the operator to invest roughly €1 million in upgrades such as ventilation and accessibility improvements, including the installation of an elevator.

The concession will run for an unusually long 50‑year term. Although the deadline for submitting bids was 26 September, the council expects the process to extend beyond that date. The award follows a broader effort to regularise several city parking contracts that had previously suffered from unpaid fees and neglect.

Other parking sites in Monte Alto, including those at Plaza de Galicia, San Cristóbal and Maestre Mateo, are also slated for new concessions as part of the municipality’s plan to modernise and secure revenue from public parking facilities.
