Monte Argentario begins 2.5 million euro road restoration
Construction has officially commenced to restore and secure the panoramic road connecting Porto Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole in Monte Argentario. The project, marked by a groundbreaking ceremony attended by Tuscany Region President Eugenio Giani, aims to address hydrogeological issues and roadbed instability that have affected the route in recent years.
The total investment for the project is 2.5 million euros. The Tuscany Region is providing 2 million euros under regional law 49/2023, while the Municipality of Monte Argentario is contributing 500,000 euros following a program agreement signed in July 2024.
The works, which were officially handed over to the contractor on September 30, are expected to be completed by 2027. Once finished, the project will restore a direct and safe connection between the two main towns of the promontory, supporting both local residents and the regional tourism industry.
