Monte Cristi parents report severe structural decay at Agua de Luis school

Parents and community members in Monte Cristi, Dominican Republic, have raised alarms regarding the severe structural deterioration of the Agua de Luis Primary School. Residents report that the aging facility suffers from broken floors, cracks in the walls, and holes throughout the building. There is significant fear among families that the structure could collapse, particularly in the event of an earthquake.

The school, which serves 76 students, also lacks adequate sanitation, currently relying on a makeshift wooden latrine. In response to these conditions and other issues such as staffing shortages, the Dominican Teachers Association (ADP) has implemented measures affecting several schools in the Guayubín area, including Agua de Luis, where teaching has been suspended pending a favorable response from the Educational District 13-02.
