Monte de San Pedro in A Coruña hosts successful D‑Day reenactment

Ariete 2026, a historical recreation of the 1944 Normandy landing, took place on Monte de San Pedro near A Coruña, Spain. The event featured a large gathering of historic military vehicles—including a Jeep, a Cadillac Fleetwood used by General Patton, a 1939 Mercedes, a BMW motorcycle and an Iveco ambulance supplied by the Spanish Army—alongside period uniforms of German and Allied forces.

Organisers from the Asociación Histórico‑Cultural The Royal Green Jackets reported hundreds of visitors throughout the day, describing the turnout as a “success of public”. The reenactment coincided with the recent UNESCO designation of the nearby beaches as part of the World Heritage list, highlighting the site’s historical links to the D‑Day operation. A tribute was also paid to Manuel Otero, the sole Galician soldier who died in the original Normandy invasion.

The day ended with a parade of the historic vehicles through the streets of A Coruña before returning to Monte de San Pedro for the next edition.
