Monte Faito cable car investigation nears technical report deadline

Technical experts are entering the final phase of investigating the cable car tragedy on the line connecting Castellammare di Stabia to Monte Faito. A pool of experts appointed by the judge of the Torre Annunziata court is expected to deposit a comprehensive technical report by the end of October.

The investigation aims to reconstruct the events of April 17, 2025, when the ‘Panarella’ cabin lost its position on the cables, slid backward, and fell down the mountainside. The accident resulted in the deaths of four passengers: Carmine Parlato, Janan Suliman, Elaine Margaret Winn, and Derek Winn, while a fifth passenger was seriously injured.

The upcoming report will include detailed analyses of the cables and components to determine the exact cause of the failure.
