Monte Nevado Wins Best Serrano Ham in Spain's Alimentos de España Awards

Jamón Serrano 24‑Monte Nevado, presented by Jamones Segovia S.A. of Carbonero el Mayor, received the 2026 Best Serrano Ham award from Spain’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food as part of the Alimentos de España awards. In the same ceremony, the 100 % ibérico Guillén ham from Guijuelo (Salamanca) was named the top ibérico ham.

The seventh edition featured 51 samples from across Spain—17 in the serrano category and 34 in the ibérico category. A jury evaluated aroma, flavor, texture and visual appearance during sensory tastings held from 17 to 19 June at the Institute of Research and Agricultural Technology (IRTA) in Girona and at the Service of Analysis and Innovation in Animal-Origin Products (SiPA) of the University of Extremadura in Cáceres. The process guaranteed full traceability and anonymity of the samples.

The ministry said the awards aim to showcase the quality and diversity of the Spanish ham sector, boost national and international recognition, and give winners priority in promotional actions. The award ceremony will take place in autumn as usual.
