Honduran authorities investigate police officers for alleged drug trafficking
The Public Ministry of Honduras has launched a formal investigation into three agents from the Anti-Extortion and Terrorist Associations Division (DAET) following a raid in San Pedro Sula. The investigation follows an October 19 search of a residence on Boulevard Mackey, where authorities reportedly discovered 114 bags of suspected marijuana, 65 wraps of suspected cocaine, and quantities of crack cocaine.
In addition to drug trafficking charges, one officer is accused of illegal possession of prohibited ammunition. During the search, investigators also seized various types of ammunition, firearm magazines, military clothing, and institutional insignia from previous police structures. The Public Ministry has requested arrest warrants for the three suspects and is working in coordination with the Ministry of Security and the Directorate for the Fight Against Drug Trafficking to clarify the extent of the criminal activity.
