Montecassiano and Grisì unveil renovated public squares
The town of Montecassiano inaugurated the refurbished Piazza Unità d’Italia, completing new paving and underground utilities and promising benches and bicycle racks in the coming months. The project, funded through the regional "Borghi Accoglienti" programme, also includes future works on the former Casa Montemarani, a cinema‑theatre plan and restoration of historic buildings, with an €800,000 special reconstruction grant supporting the new municipal archive.
In the Sicilian frazione of Grisì, the new Piazza della Rinascita was opened on 1 August 2026. The square features football and padel fields, a modern playground and a central meeting area, aiming to boost community sport and social interaction. The ceremony was blessed by parish priest Don Ruggero Ciavarri and attended by local officials, including Mayor Alberto Arcidiacono and Council President Marco Intravaia, who highlighted the project as a symbol of the town’s urban rebirth.
