Montecassino Stiftung brings youth from former combatant nations to Cassino

Approximately 50 young people from Poland, the United Kingdom, and Germany gathered in Cassino, Italy, as part of the Montecassino Stiftung project to promote peace and commemorate the victims of World War II.

Since 2009, the initiative led by Michele Di Leonardo has brought together youth from nations that were once combatants during the Second World War. The project aims to strengthen international ties through cultural and social activities, focusing on learning from historical errors to build a shared path toward peace.

The group met with Cassino Mayor Enzo Salera, Culture Councilor Gabriella Vacca, and City Council President Barbara Di Rollo. During the meeting, the participants discussed the history of the city and reflected on contemporary global conflicts. Following the meeting, the group visited the Polish Cemetery in Montecassino, with further visits to Commonwealth military sites planned.
