Montecristi Police arrest man wanted for attempted murder
Dominican Republic National Police arrested 43-year-old Kelvin Ramón Mercado García in Montecristi province. Mercado García was wanted under judicial order RAJ-2026-17633 for his alleged involvement in an attempted murder.
The incident occurred in the La Pinta section of the Santa María municipal district, located in the Pepillo Salcedo (Manzanillo) municipality. The victim, 66-year-old Juan Silvio Acosta, sustained gunshot wounds that included both entry and exit points. Acosta received initial medical treatment in Las Matas de Santa Cruz before being transferred to a clinic in Santiago de los Caballeros.
The arrest was carried out by members of the Preventive Police and the Criminal Investigation Division (DICRIM) following intelligence operations. The suspect has been placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authorities.
