Siderno adopts safety pact to curb illegal activity in local venues

The Prefecture of Reggio Calabria and local business organisations have signed a voluntary “Safety Pact” aimed at preventing illegal activities and safety hazards in bars, restaurants and beach establishments in Siderno. The agreement, presented to venue managers by Mayor Mariateresa Fragomeni and Deputy Mayor Salvatore Pellegrino, outlines preventive measures such as installing video‑surveillance, reporting risks to police, and complying with existing regulations. Participation is optional, and businesses that adopt the measures may receive incentives. The pact follows a prior awareness meeting convened by Prefect Clara Vaccaro with the municipalities of Siderno, Locri and Roccella Ionica and was discussed with the head of the Siderno police precinct, Dr Francesco Muraca.
