Monteiro police investigate vehicle arson linked to homicide

Police in Monteiro are investigating whether a Chevrolet Meriva found burned on a rural road is linked to a homicide in Pernambuco. The vehicle was discovered destroyed by fire on Saturday night near the Sítio Tinguí and Sítio Mocó areas.

Authorities suspect the car may have been used by perpetrators to flee the scene of a cowboy's murder that occurred during a vaquejada event in São José do Egito. Investigators believe the vehicle was hidden in dense vegetation following the crime and later moved to the rural road to be burned, an act intended to destroy forensic evidence. The Civil Police plan to examine the vehicle's chassis and origin to confirm its connection to the homicide.
