Monteiro teacher investigated for allegedly piercing child's head with syringe

A teacher in Monteiro, Paraíba, is under investigation after allegedly piercing the head of a four-year-old boy with a syringe. The child, who has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), was reportedly injured during a physical education class on July 7.

According to reports and documents from the municipal daycare, caregivers witnessed the teacher handling the boy roughly and using a syringe taken from a pencil case to puncture his head, causing bleeding. The teacher has denied the allegation, claiming she only threatened to use a syringe to reprimand the child and subsequently cleaned the bleeding wound.

The boy's family claims they were not notified of the incident by the school until August 3, nearly a month after it occurred. The case is currently being investigated by the Civil Police and is also the subject of an Administrative Disciplinary Process (PAD) opened by the Municipality of Monteiro. The teacher has been removed from her duties pending the investigation.
