Montemaggiore al Metauro hosts WWII historical commemorations

The ‘Era Ieri’ event, organized by the municipality of Colli al Metauro and the Montemaggiore pro loco, is set to commemorate the historical impact of World War II on the region. The program specifically focuses on the visit of Winston Churchill to the area.

Scheduled to begin on August 21 in Saltara, the event includes historical reenactments, video mapping, and exhibitions. Highlights include a visit to a local monument, a historical film projection, and the presentation of a book regarding the passage of the front lines.

In Montemaggiore al Metauro, the festivities will continue through August 23. The Winston Churchill River Historical Museum will be open to the public, and the town center will feature large-scale historical imagery. Additionally, a local school will host an exhibition dedicated to Wojtek, the famous soldier bear mascot of the Polish II Corps.
