Montemor-o-Novo and Vila Nova de Poiares host summer cultural festivals

Montemor-o-Novo will hold its annual Noite Branca on August 14, a night of street performances, music and public festivities aimed at revitalising the town centre and supporting local commerce, according to Mayor Carlos Pinto de Sá.

In Vila Nova de Poiares, the IX Noite de Gil Vicente drew a full house after the event was moved indoors because of rain. The performance, staged by the Companhia de Teatro Experimental de Poiares, adapted an António José da Silva work inspired by Don Quixote and featured accompaniment by the Filarmónica Fraternidade Poiarense. Mayor Nuno Neves highlighted the festival’s role in promoting cultural participation and preserving the community’s identity.
