Montemor-o-Novo declares industrial fire extinguished as Mourão forms health council

In Montemor-o-Novo, authorities have confirmed the extinction of a fire that broke out on June 11, 2026, at the JM Magro waste management facilities in the Adua Industrial Zone. The operation, which lasted four months, was concluded following a week of intensive work involving heavy machinery. While firefighting operations are complete, various entities are continuing investigations into the company's legal compliance, and the municipality is reviewing the urban planning conformity of the site.

Separately, in Mourão, the Municipal Health Council was officially installed on October 14. The council aims to improve public access to healthcare and promote disease prevention. Chaired by the Mayor of Mourão, the body includes representatives from the municipal assembly, local health units, social security services, and private solidarity institutions.
