Montemor-o-Novo Showcases Literary Tourism at Brazil's FLIP Festival

The municipality of Montemor-o-Novo sent a delegation to the 24th edition of the Festa Literária Internacional de Paraty (FLIP) in Brazil. Technical officer Nuno Cacilhas presented the town’s "Roteiro Literário Levantado do Chão" project, which turns José Saramago’s novel into a territorial, historic and community‑based experience. He participated in the panel "A Literary Map of Portugal" alongside authors and cultural figures, highlighting literary routes from Lisbon to the Alentejo.

The delegation also included Portugal’s Secretary of State for Tourism, Pedro Machado, and Tourism Board member Lídia Monteiro, underscoring the strategic importance of literary tourism for Portugal. In a separate municipal notice, Montemor-o-Novo announced vegetation‑control work scheduled for 30 July.
