Montemurlo celebrates 80 years of local administration and women's political history
The municipality of Montemurlo held a commemorative event at the Sala Banti theater to mark the 80th anniversary of its first municipal council. This council was established following the first free and universal suffrage elections held on March 24, 1946.
The celebration highlighted the historical contributions of local administrators and emphasized the role of women in politics, noting that 80 years ago, women gained the right to vote and hold office for the first time. The historical research for the event was conducted by Council President Federica Palanghi in collaboration with historians from the Fondazione Cdse.
Attendees included current Mayor Simone Calamai and several former mayors and councilors, honoring the legacy of past leaders who contributed to the community's development.
