Montemurlo completes Funandola ditch restoration works

Maintenance and restoration work on the Funandola ditch in Montemurlo has been completed. The project, costing approximately 20,000 euros, was carried out by the Consorzio di Bonifica 3 Medio Valdarno in collaboration with the municipal administration.

The interventions focused on repairing the ditch bed and the embankment slope in the central area of Montemurlo, adjacent to the Rita Levi Montalcini park. These works were necessary to address issues caused by bad weather and flooding, specifically targeting erosion and bank collapse. Additionally, water infiltrations in the riverbed were eliminated to ensure hydraulic stability, and the section was reshaped to improve water flow.

Mayor Simone Calamai stated that the intervention is part of a broader monitoring and maintenance plan to protect the territory and prevent hydrogeological risks. Paolo Masetti, president of the Consorzio di Bonifica Medio Valdarno, noted that such efforts are increasingly vital due to climate change and territorial fragility.
