Montenegrin Deputy PM attends high-level summit on addiction prevention

Montenegrin Deputy Prime Minister for Health and Social Welfare Jelena Borovinić Bojović participated in an international high-level meeting on addiction prevention and recovery held in San Patrignano, near Rimini, Italy. The summit was co-organized by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and French President Emmanuel Macron.

The meeting resulted in the adoption of the Rimini Declaration and established three key priorities for the European Coalition Against Drugs (ECAD): suppressing illegal drug trafficking, combating criminal financial flows, and strengthening systematic efforts for prevention, treatment, and recovery.

During the summit, Borovinić Bojović addressed the critical phase of the global fight against drug addiction, highlighting the rising lethality of synthetic substances and the profits gained by organized crime through the exploitation of vulnerable populations. She joined Prime Minister Meloni in condemning the trivialization and romanticization of drug use, describing it as a serious threat to public health and security.
