Montenegrin diaspora faces administrative hurdles with state records
Montenegrin citizens living in the diaspora are facing increasing administrative difficulties when attempting to exercise their rights within the country. Despite public assurances from Prime Minister Milojko Spajić that Montenegro will not abandon its citizens regardless of where they live, many expatriates report a disconnect between political rhetoric and bureaucratic reality.
Reports indicate growing fears among the diaspora that the state may be systematically removing them from official records under the pretext of foreign residency. One specific case highlighted an individual living in Luxembourg who was denied the ability to register a residential address in Bar, Montenegro, because he was living abroad, despite already holding valid Montenegrin identification and never having de-registered from his previous residence.
