Montenegrin emigrants in Turkey seek visa exemptions
Adil Ozuzun, president of the Association of Montenegrin Emigrants from Burhaniye in Turkey, has called on Montenegrin ministries to address concerns regarding upcoming visa regulations. The group is seeking solutions for emigrants and their descendants before a new visa regime takes effect on November 1.
Ozuzun is requesting visa-free travel and a renewable ten-year residency status to maintain family and historical ties to Montenegro. He emphasized that the diaspora seeks practical rights rather than voting rights, noting that the ability to visit ancestral homes and gravesites is essential for preserving their heritage.
The association has urged the Ministry of Diaspora and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide transparency regarding their actions. Ozuzun questioned whether the government is working on proposals for visa-free entry or long-term stays, and called for the diaspora in Turkey to be treated with the same priority as other Montenegrin diaspora groups.
